Specifications for Receipt of Digital Artwork

Acceptable Removable Media Options
All to be formatted for Apple Macintosh
100Mb Zip Discs, 31/2 Floppy disk or CD Rom

Format for Receiving Artwork


(a)

Either supplied as ADS documents or as eps files with fonts embedded using Font Includer.

(b)

Illustrator or Freehand documents - all fonts for adverts to be turned into paths and embedded in the advertisement as .eps file.

(c)

QuarkXpress adverts are not to be supplied as open Quark documents, but must be as complete .eps file and saved with fonts embedded.

(d)

Colour advertisements are to be saved and sent as CMYK (Not RGB). Logos, graphics etc must have all their Pantone colours converted to CMYK and separated.

(e)

Colour proof required for indication use only.

Your Guernsey Press contact will supply you with a URN (Unique Reference Number) at or shortly after the time of booking. All files sent to us MUST be labelled with the correct URN number and in a folder with the client's name on.
Additional charges will be levied if artwork is not received to the specification above.

Colour Reproduction
The Guernsey Press is a newspaper, and colour will not look the same as commercially printed advertising material. Our colour quality is industry standard if not higher, but we will never achieve the registration of sheet fed printers.
The Guernsey Press cannot be held liable for reproduction if these criteria are not followed.

General suggestions and guidelines for production of advertisements
We would suggest the following:-

(a)

Avoid serif type styles as the fineness of the serifs can be lost with small type sizes.

(b)

Do not use a font size of less than 7 point for colour adverts and 6 point for mono.

(c)

If reversing out of the four colour process, we would suggest using just one of the four CMYK colours.
